SQUIRREL!
Squirrels are so cute and fun to watch in your yard, but can be a real pain if they get into your attic. If you hear noises and suspect it squirrels, you can try and do it yourself following the steps below or give us a call if you are in the Bay Area or Napa Valley.
How we deal with squirrels is by first sealing all the entry points except for what we deem to be the primary entry point. That one we will install a one-way door and then come back in about a week or two to remove that one-way door and then seal that area. That’s usually all that’s needed although that can sometimes be easier said than done.
The picture below is from a house we just did where squirrels were actually nesting on the roof but not getting into the attic yet. There were however rats getting into the attic. In this case, we removed all the nesting sealed the corner where they’re getting in and then sealed all the entry points for rats and set traps. A note about the way, I sealed the entry point - normally I try to make my seals very clean, but in this case, I wanted to make it as durable as possible to prevent the squirrel from getting back in.
